Apply for Summer 2010

You can begin applying to CU-Boulder on August 5. Our online application is secure, easy to use, and allows you to save your work and come back later. Applying online also provides you with immediate notification that your application has been received and speeds up the processing of your application.

1Begin or resume a saved application
To begin a new application you will need to log in to the system by entering a personal ID and password of your choice. Your application is linked to this login ID and password and can be retrieved at a later time for revision or completion.

2Review the application instructions and gather the documents required to complete your file

The University of Colorado at Boulder requires several documents to complete your file before an admission counselor will review it and make an admission decision. Additional, and optional, documentation may also be submitted in order to ascertain your overall qualities and potential contributions to the CU-Boulder community. Go to application instructions >

Required Documents

  • Online application
  • $50 nonrefundable application fee
  • Official high school transcripts showing graduation date*
  • Official college transcripts (from each institution attended)*
  • Official GED scores (if appicable)
  • ACT or SAT I scores (transfer applicants with fewer than 24 semester hours completed)
  • Two short answer essay questions (one 500 words or less, one 250 words or less)

*Official transcripts can be sent electronically by the issuing institution to apply@colorado.edu. Transcripts in languages other than English must be submitted in the native language and be accompanied by a literal, certified English translation.

Optional Documents

  • One or two letters of recommendation
  • Resume or list of cocurricular activities, work experience, leadership positions, and awards

Additional Requirements

  • International students have additional requirements. Please review this information carefully.
  • College of Music applicants must also complete a College of Music Application after their admission application has been submitted, provide a letter of reference, and schedule an audition.

3Fill Out Your Application

You can complete your application in any order, save your work and come back to it later. There are 11 sections to complete, and your application will be saved for 90 days. After 90 days your application will be deleted. In order to resume a saved application, you will need to use your login ID and password.


4Review and Submit Your Application

You will have a chance to preview and print your application before submitting. If you have corrections you must make these before you submit your application. Make your corrections in the appropriate section and remember to save your revisions. You will not be able to revise or print your application after you submit it. Keep a copy of your application for your records.

Submit your application by clicking the submit application button ONLY when sections 1 through 11 are marked complete. If you do not complete this process, your application will not be received by the Office of Admissions.

Wait for the web page confirming receipt of your application. If you do not receive this confirmation, your application has not been submitted.


5Checking Your Application Status Online

You can check your application status on the apply tab through your MyCUBoulder account.

After Your Application Has Been Submitted

Now that you have filled out an application, review the application instructions to make sure you have also submitted and/or requested all the required information and credentials. Missing information or credentials delay application processing and may affect your chances for admission. Incomplete applications cannot be reviewed until the necessary items are received. Most items sent by mail typically require 10 days to two weeks to reach our office, as well as additional time to be processed.

Applications and credentials submitted for admission become the property of the University of Colorado at Boulder. Keep a copy of your application for your personal records.

Keep Your E-mail and Mailing Address Current

Throughout the admission process we will send e-mail and printed information regarding admission, registration, and orientation, as well as other information to the e-mail and mailing address you included on your application. If either your e-mail or mailing address change after you've submit ted your application, notify the Office of Admissions immediately by sending an e-mail to apply@colorado.edu or by calling 303-492-2451. If you send an e-mail, please include your full legal name and birth date.
