CU-Boulder faculty and students have excavated an ancient village in El Salvador buried by volcanic ash in A.D. 690. Known as Ceren, the site is considered the best-preserved prehistoric farming village in all of Latin America.

The Graduate School
The Graduate School, in cooperation with the colleges and schools, offers graduate degrees in 51 doctoral and 62 master's programs. It awards graduate degrees in a full range of disciplines, including humanities, social science, physical and biological sciences, fine and performing arts, engineering, journalism, business, music, and education.
Students seeking admission to a CU-Boulder master’s
or doctoral program apply directly to the appropriate department rather
than the Graduate School. Admission applications must be received by the
departments according to their deadlines.
