CU-Boulder Holds Spring Commencement 2009

Watch and listen to 18-year-old Ryan Kramer as he describes his challenging and fulfilling years at CU.

Nearly 5,300 students graduated from CU-Boulder on May 8 during the spring commencement ceremony.

"Their degree means they are not just engineers, chemists or teachers, but also entrepreneurs, communicators and problem solvers," said CU-Boulder Chancellor Philip DiStefano in a recent Daily Camera column.

"Many leave CU not only with a diploma but also with a record of civic engagement and community service," he said. "They enter the workforce not just as graduates but as citizens.

"Most have voluntarily lived their lives according to our Colorado Creed and its seven guiding principles, including integrity, accountability, acceptance and contribution. These are qualities that will earn them respect in the professional world."

"CU graduates have a global perspective and they are prepared with the latest workforce skills and technology coveted by employers," DiStefano said.

The graduating class, which included two 18-year-olds and six straight A students, listened to CNN anchor John Roberts give the commencement address.
